FORM
Having often been referred to as "plastic lace" this textile is elegant, strong and diverse much like the women i'm designing for. It is big, bold and ballsy yet radiates feminine beauty and strength. Unlike many large jewellery designs this textile is incredibly lightweight so won't weigh you down while you're conquering the world!
Although rigid plastic in nature it's also surprisingly malleable and full of sculptural possibilities. Plans for future expansion of this textile involve pieces such as, neck corsets, headpieces, rings, corsets and more. Along side a range of bigger, more dramatic custom pieces and personal commissions. Contact us to learn more!
I use embossing powders on many of my designs to make them pop, as well as highlighting the beautiful texture of the layered straws. Future developments of these powders are to be explored as well as a range of other plastic techniques. Accidents happen and products can unfortunately develop weak points.
We are a company that promotes sustainability and therefore will be offering 2 years free repairs on any of our products.
Luckily this product is very easy to repair so we can have it back to you in no time!
INSPIRATION
Originally creating the textile in 2014 it has taken a years of practice and refinement to get this unique textile to the products being sold today. When researching for my Honours project: The Beauty of Ephemiral Ice Formations I realised the dreadful extent of the plastic pollution crisis and single-use plastic consumption. This inspired me to push the textile to it's full potential as a product and give back in my own way.

GIVING BACK
This textile is created from plastic drinking straws. Through my work I aim to draw attention to the plastic pollution disaster. Taking what has been a very harmful, one use type of plastic straw and creating something lasting, sustainable and beautiful from something formerly destructive.
Plastic Oceans is a fantastic charity! They not only actively combat the damaging effects of plastic pollution but also teach people worldwide how to properly recycle and find, alternative, more sustainable solutions to plastic. We can all do our best to make a positive change, even small changes make a big difference!

With each purchase £1 is donated to Plastic Oceans Charity.
INDIVIDUALITY
Although each designs is based off of a loose shape they will be subtly different every single time. Every accessory is unique and personal to the buyer. When heat is applied to the plastic pieces they twist and warp in a very interesting way, bonding together to make a surprisingly strong, lattice-like structure. The resulting pattern is chaotic and unpredictable resulting in a beautiful array of shapes.
